Yaqeen Yamani and Nora Elmarzouky will collaborate with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Philadelphia to engage the Arab/SWANA and Muslim community in Philadelphia through workshops that tell multidisciplinary/sensory stories. These stories will include video, audio, and images to be incorporated into a people’s digital archive and physical exhibition to combat negative and dehumanizing stereotypes that have led to the 216% increase of CAIR discrimination cases. This residency is rooted in community engagement to amplify and celebrate the diversity of the Arab/SWANA and Muslim community and build agency and power through storytelling.

CAIR Philadelphia
CAIR Philadelphia is a grassroots civil rights and advocacy group working to ensure that the American Muslim community is fully empowered to navigate the American civic and legal systems. CAIR Philadelphia augments this work by continually building coalitions with other faith and civic groups that promote justice and mutual understanding to empower communities.
