Leticia Roa-Nixon

Leticia Roa Nixon was born and raised in Mexico City and lives in Swarthmore since 2019. She has a B.S. in Communication from Universidad Iberoamericana. After moving to Philadelphia in 1985, Leticia has been documenting stories of Philadelphia Latino immigrants as a Community News Reporter for Hispanic publications since 1988. She is an Aztec Dancer and Incense Carrier, part of a music group, a writer and photographer. Leticia spends most of her free time in South Philadelphia and is a volunteer for the nonprofit Juntos, a human and immigrants rights advocate organization. She is also member of Fleisher Art Memorial “Day of the Dead” organizing committee of this celebration since 11 years ago.

Leticia will interview artists Valeska Garay, Merian Soto, Claudia Peregrina, Erika Guadalupe Núñez, Ivonne Pinto García and Joaquina Cuba, and document Ana Guisell Palma (RIP) who have been the chosen artists to make a “Day of the Dead” altar at Fleisher Art Memorial for a video 30- 45 minutes long showcasing their artistic discipline, intent and vision.
