New Web Series by Azia Squire

A. Squire (ACG '13) and Desmond Chiam wrote and directed the new web series, We, the Band. The show is a situational comedy about the trials of being young, ambitious, other and trying to make it. The characters in We, The Band, led by the rebellious Kayla, are diverse across races and sexualities, and trying to reconcile their identities with their art, all while in pursuit of show-biz success. Each episode we'll follow Kayla as she moves to South Philly and tries to navigate the murky waters of being a black girl in the white-boy dominated rock scene. Meanwhile, Tripp, a sleazy opportunist and one of Kayla's roommates, is focused on the South Philly Talent showcase, a beacon of hope for mainstream success. His determination to use the roommates' diversity to get in, whether it involves caricature or not, is a season arc.Watch the first episode here.
