Her mixed-media works on canvas and paper are personal narratives, which examine the roles, responsibilities and choices that women make as daughters and mothers. This body of paintings, prints, and collages explore the energy and emotions of love and loss: the delicate balance between holding on and letting go in watershed moments in the artist’s personal life—sending sons to college and into the world, caring for aging parents and pets, and the grieving and healing process during a time of personal mourning. Like the daily Kaddish—a Jewish ritual recited after the death of a loved one—these sinuous paintings, prints and collages perform a tribute: an intention to excavate grace and beauty in our ephemeral lives.
