ArtistNConversation with Agathe Bouton, Linda Dubin Garfield and Gillian Pokalo at Brandywine Workshop, 728 S. Broad Street.

"The Brandywine Workshop sought our curatorial services to help identify women artist-printmakers who would be new to its program and produce an exhibition that could show the range of ideas and techniques being explored. In an effort to look for printmakers outside the Brandywine’s visiting artists series, we encountered a group of artists that organically stirred us into our premise for an exhibition of mixed-media printmaking. As curators, we selected these artists for their common exploration of new possibilities in printmaking. By this we mean the creation of works that combine traditional printmaking such as etching, intaglio, lithography or serigraphy, but with inventive new ways of incorporating new approaches and mixing media. The aesthetic range of works includes images that incorporate external elements of the environment and metaphysical references. The artists explore process as a layered language that is meditative in meaning or socially connective." -Marta Santiago and Doris Noguerra- Rogers
