Che Gossett's NYC Events in April

Leeway Program Assistant, Che Gossett (ACG '11, '10) will be participating in two New York events in April. First Redefining Realness: A Salon in honor of Janet Mock on April 23 and Live Ideas: James Baldwin This Time on April 27. 

Redefining Realness: A Salon in honor of Janet Mock The evening begins with a reading by 
the author, followed by a discussion with scholars, activists, and writers whose work is engaged in the history of media and literary representations of women of color in the U.S., the importance of storytelling in social movements, trans women’s activism, and the role of community and personal relationships in establishing resilience to hostile environments. The event will take place on April 23rd at 6:30pm, in the auditorium at 304 Barnard Hall at Barnard College in New York City. This event is free and open to the public. Venue is wheelchair accessible. Please note that seating for this event is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

New York Live Arts’ Live Ideas festival presents James Baldwin, This Time! April 23 to 27 with twenty events spread over five days. It will culminate in the spring of 2015 with major programming at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse. Events throughout the city will celebrate this often overlooked American writer who is arguably the most profound and imperative voice of the twentieth century. Che will be reading excerpts from Baldwin and talking about his life and enduring legacy on April 27 at noon, as part of Jimmy at High Noon series. The series will take place at the New York Arts Live Studio (219 W 19th Street, New York City) Its free and open to the public.
