Building a Creative Life as a Teaching Artist

Are you a new teaching artist? Someone considering teaching in community settings as a way to sustain your creative life? Presented by the Department of Art Education an Community Arts Practices,Tyler School of Art of Temple University and the Bartol Foundation, this discussion will bring together four leaders in Philadelphia: Aviva Kapust (Village of Arts and Humanities); Magda Martinez (LTA '05, WOO '01) (Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial); Alex Shaw (Live Connections; and, Jennifer Turnbull (ACG '09)(Spiral Q) to share their journeys as teaching artist and practicing artists. The session will include hands-on activities, tips for building skills and networks, advice on finding work, and the important role teaching artists play in the Philadelphia cultural scene.
