Overview
It is one thing to say, "Good things will come and find you if you let them." It's another to have someone give you a gift like the Leeway Grant. It changes you. It changes the way you see the world and yourself walking around in it.
I am currently enrolled in Bennington College's Limited Residency MFA program for creative writing and literature, and I'm exploring the voices within.
Hi, Kate. It's me, Bobby, Bobby Mallin, the guy from the hospital. You interviewed me a couple of weeks ago, remember? I hope you don't mind that I'm calling you Kate? You said that was okay. I hope you remember saying so because otherwise I guess I'm just some kind of whack job standing here on you front porch calling you Kate.
I totally understand if you don't want to unchain your door, which I must say, looks like a solid, well-made door. You can't kick this baby in. None of that plywood crap. Trust me, after working the door for nine years at the Ritz Carlton, I know a good solid door when I see one. But if you want to unchain it and let me in I swear I'll only take up five minutes of your time. Five minutes and then I'm out of here. Boom. I'm gone.
