The music of A Stick and A Stone--with elements of ethereal vocals; dark soaring melodies; and meditative, heavy instrumentation--has been described as everything from haunting chamber folk to slow-motion metal. Led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Elliott Harvey, A Stick and a Stone has evolved to include a rotating cast of collaborating musicians. Since its conception in 2007, the group has completed over 15 tours across the US. A Stick and a Stone has contributed music to theater productions and public art installations, and frequently works with visual and performance artists.

A Stick and a Stone will create an album of original music, entitled Chromosome, which will draw attention to the existence of gender variance in the natural world through its lyrics and presentation. A Stick and a Stone’s goal is to challenge the misconception that transgender identities are fabricated and unnatural. The album will be released with a live public performance of the music, followed by an interactive workshop where participants will explore the ways their own genders and sexualities contribute to the vast diversity of human life on this planet.
