Shira will complete her short film about three teenage Karen Burmese refugees living in South Philadelphia. The film explores the lives of the teens before entering the U.S. and the challenges they face graduating from high school and entering college. As the global refugee crisis grows, understanding the lives of these students through this film can raise awareness about the specific challenges that teen refugees face. The teens will co-create their narratives and will have an opportunity to learn about the editing process.
