Shari’s project focuses on the life work of Gregory Scott, a devoted Gold Coast Buccaneer founder, who was brutally murdered on February 27, 2013. In light of this recent tragedy, an exterior of a residential building has been donated for a mural to honor the man and the mission of the Buccaneers- to mentor young African Americans in cultural awareness, values, and self-discipline while promoting community service. The painting will be done collectively in the neighborhood with the goal to beautify, memorialize, and raise awareness for this organization outside of West Philadelphia.

Ending war: militarization, criminalization, and mass incarceration

In light of a recent FBI led investigation into Philadelphia’s police department, Shari will create a series of multi-cultural, intergenerational, community portraits based on civil rights violations. These portraits will consist of multiple personal accounts collected through open dialogue gatherings and transformed into screen-printed imagery to post publicly throughout the city of Philadelphia.
