Shameka Sawyer is an award-winning film producer, writer, director, and educator in Philadelphia. Through the medium of film, she teaches women and people of color how to write direct, and produce short films that promote cultural awareness, diversity, and equality.

Shameka’s project, Being Me: Careers Behind the Camera, is a series of four hands-on workshops for teen girls interested filmmaking. This series of workshops is an opportunity to expose a group of young women to the power of story-telling while gaining valuable hands-on technical skills. Working professionals will lead workshop participants in the areas of camera operation, cinematography, and career exploration in film.
