Sarah will develop a play that preserves and reinterprets rural Irish folk ballads and celebrates the healing power of acapella singing in relation to death, dying, and grief. The writing phase of her project will culminate in a public reading in Philadelphia, with the aim of fostering dialogue and raising awareness about the healing power of singing, and how people relate to their own voices in urban, fast-paced, highly industrialized communities. Sarah will mount the play as a live performance, ultimately touring within various community venues such as loss and bereavement centers in Philadelphia.
