Sarah’s project, BYPASSED, is an interactive web documentary told through the stories of communities marginalized because of their race and class in Coatesville, PA. As a fourth generation Coatesville native, Sarah is aware of both the struggle and the vibrancy of this city, and how the latter tends to get lost in popular media. BYPASSED will give the residents a forum where their stories may transcend the town's stigma, which has been built and reinforced by the local media. This project will incorporate sonic IDs (60-second portraits, sound collages, and stories), film, and photography and will blend community-generated content with Sarah’s own work. She hopes this will establish pride in her city and build bridges across communities in Coatesville.
