Renee will create a series of three-day Afro-Cuban dance workshops for women of all ages and dance abilities. The artist will encourage participants to identify with goddess mythology from West Africa and Cuba. Renee will share the stories of full-hipped, dark-skinned goddesses worshipped in ancient African societies. She aims to pass on this knowledge and help women of color identify with their ancestral heritage. Through dance and folklore, the workshops will provide an alternative to western interpretations of femininity and promote self-esteem.
