Queerobics West Philly
Queerobics West Philly is an accessibility-centered, collectively-run community dance aerobics class and performance project all in one. It is led and steered by queer and trans dance artists, performers of all flavors, and chronically ill community members. Queerobics believes in creativity and deeply aligns with movement as a guiding value. This project aims to celebrate moving together, both literally and metaphorically, toward an anti-ableist, anti-racist, fat liberationist, consent-centered practice.

Overview
CJ Jasen’s project, Queerobics will be a pop-up, collectively-run, accessibility-centered community dance aerobics class and performance project series, led by queer and trans dance artists, and disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill Philadelphians. This project will celebrate the joy of moving together, both literally and metaphorically, toward an anti-ableist, anti-racist, fat liberationist, and consent-centered practice. For accessibility, classes will open with a performance and participants may choose to watch a class as they would watch a show. This structure, which crosses categories of class and performance, aims to make the project accessible for those who may not be able to physically participate but want to observe. Each session will also offer a virtual option, making them accessible both in-person and online.
