Priscilla Bell Lamberty

Location
Haddington
Philadelphia

“I seek to share my art with others in hopes of sparking thoughtful conversation with the viewer. It is my hope to help shed light on some of the often-challenging topics that I address in my work.”

Priscilla Bell Lamberty is a Black & Borikua Taino painter and arts educator born and raised in Lenapehoking (Philadelphia). When Priscilla first took in art classes at the Community College of Philadelphia, she wanted to pursue a career as an artist. Despite facing the difficulties of being a teenage mother, she persisted in pursuing her degree and was driven by a desire to produce art that genuinely depicted her life as a Black and Borikua person from North Philadelphia. She has taught art to students of all ages for 20 years, and currently teaches online classes for adults through Fleisher Art Memorial. Priscilla has also worked with Mural Arts of Philadelphia as both teaching artist and muralist.

As an artist, Priscilla looks towards her family, surroundings, and cultural heritages for guidance and inspiration. She continues to explore the issues that mean the most to her, including Parenthood, Environmental Justice, the centering and uplifting of Black & Brown voices in colonial spaces, and Indigenous/Native/Indigenous Caribbean visibility.
