Pratima will perform Voided, a solo theatre performance inspired partly by her own experiences and partly by the true story of Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian female astronaut in space who died in the 2003 Columbia accident. What is it to be an unconventional Indian woman trying to exist in a marginalizing world? It's the exploration of culture, status quo, and representation that dares to color outside the lines. Pratima plans to bring three performances of Voided to Asian Arts Initiative for audiences attending the 2018 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Audiences will be able to see and hear a performance that connects to their community, yet pushes the boundaries of who that community includes and what it does.
