Philly Thrive
Rooted in South Philadelphia, Philly Thrive organizes for environmental, racial, and economic justice in the poorest big city in the United States. They work to heal the unmet needs the current extractive economy creates for communities and put pressure on decision-makers through non-violent direct action and storytelling to transform the extractive economy into a regenerative one.

Overview
Kristen Harrison will collaborate with Philly Thrive to develop a multimedia walking tour that addresses fenceline residents’ history of harm from the South Philly refinery and future visions for their neighborhoods. Kristen will work with a cohort of residents to collect oral histories and collaboratively design photography and place-based art installations on waterproofed banners, paired with a QR code-accessible archive to expand on neighbors’ personal narratives through text, audio, and video.
