Overview
In seeing the world directly in all its complexity, mystery and delight on the ground glass of an 8x10-inch view camera, I find a heightened resonance with the excitement of reality. For me, by working in this straight-forward way, there is an interaction with universal conditions and feelings that are deeper than imaginative contrivances.
The publication of my book, Natural Connections, in 1994 enabled me to bring closure to a period of work in the natural landscape. I then turned my attention to photographing the farm where I grew up on the High Plains of the Texas Panhandle. My objective is to make the best picture I can and to experience growth and fresh vision with each new body of work.
