Nancy will exhibit a current body of work from her lifelong painting project, The Genre of Inclusion at the Manayunk Art Center. This project focuses on those with special needs in a straightforward way, in hopes of educating people who are unfamiliar with disabilities and affirm and celebrate the lives of those who have special needs and those who care for them. As a parent of 12-year-old child with multiple disabilities, her work aims to change people’s minds about people with disabilities when they see and are moved by her work that is “legitimized” as fine art hanging on a gallery wall. These depictions aim to take away a layer of fear, a feeling that people with disabilities are “other.”
