Mary has been recording a CD of mostly original songs dealing with domestic violence and ways to overcome the difficulties many women struggle with in hurtful relationships. This grant will allow her to finish her CD. The CD focuses on world music, bringing in notable musician to perform with her in the studio, so that it is clear that domestic violence affects everyone regardless of religion, culture, and class. She will then use this CD to bring awareness to domestic violence issues, and to promote education and prevention. Audiences will hear her music on the radio and in places like shelters, such as the one Mary used, where they have asked her to sing at their vigils and have the CD available for distribution. By reaching a wide audience, Mary hopes to reach out to and help women struggling with domestic violence.
