Lorna will create an exhibition featuring the personal narratives of 3-4 African-American women bike riders and their bikes. She plans to meet with the owners and record their personal narratives through a series of video interviews, learning of their interests and passions. Lorna will then collect the owner’s personal objects and incorporate them within the structure of their bike frames. From there she will create “moving sculptural portraits” inspired by these personal narratives. The goal is to present bike riding as a means to environmental and health awareness within the urban Philadelphia African-American women’s community.
