Leonor will present a project involving 10 Latin American children of indigenous Mexican, Guatemalan, Ecuadorian and Venezuelan descent; between 8 and 14 years-old, living in South Philadelphia and participating in the Casa Monarca’s ceramic course entitled My Mother EarthMy Mother Earth is a project in which indigenous symbols and figures, coming from where their families migrated from, will be reproduced.  The children will learn the interpretation that were given to these figures and symbols and will recognize them as an important part of the Maya, Chavin, and Inca culture and identity. They will learn that their personal history has roots in indigenous peoples who have left their mark on world history and that of Latin America.
