Kisha Barr’s documentary short, Show Me What it Feels Like, will explore the unique intersection of autism, gender, and race in the often-overlooked experiences of female autists of color. Through intimate portraits, candid interviews, animation, and cinema verite, this project will challenge stereotypes, celebrate diversity, and shed light on the complex interplay between neurodiversity and cultural identity in the Camden/Philadelphia area. The film will focus on the unique experiences of BIPOC women on the autism spectrum, aiming to visually illustrate the joy and pain they encounter, bringing to light stories often overlooked in broader conversations about autism.
