Julianne Bernstein Theodoropulos

Julianne will research the history of the Greek Jewish community of Salonika in order to write a play based on the oral histories collected from theater artists, educators, folklorists and historians. Julianne's cultural experience has provided her with the insight to interview people and ask about their experiences concerning growing up Greek either in Salonika, in the United States, or going back and forth between the two during their lives, waiting for political tensions to be resolved. Ultimately, her research will lead to a full-length drama that will be first to become a workshop offered through Theatre Ariel and then performed in Greek Churches, Synagogues, social centers where both cultural groups will gather.
