Jessica Markey Locklear

Jessica is an enrolled citizen of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. Jessica will collect and exhibit the oral histories of Lumbee Indians who migrated from North Carolina to Philadelphia in response to the postwar economic boom of the late twentieth century. This project will not only preserve these stories and culture but facilitate a dialogue on what it means to be Indigenous in a seemingly black and white urban environment.
