Jenna will produce a comic book that tells the fantastical tale of a young woman, Perdita, whose path, or perhaps burden, is to search for a way to make the world what she wants it to be. Jenna believes that it is imperative that within social change work we engage with envisioning the world within which we want to live. Their project will tap into this need and demonstrate, with a compelling story of wild political imagination, how art can play a primary role in this visioning work. Jenna points to the history of activists, artists, and queers, using comics as a subversive medium to examine and confront issues of racism, poverty, sexuality, love, and abuse. Knitting together themes of loss, discovery, imagination, and the development of political-spirituality, this comic tale will help both general readers and activists engage with this tradition.
