Iya Sangolade

Iya plans to create a community of women who will undertake monthly projects in ritual beadwork. The project is intended to introduce this African tradition to women of African American heritage. The beading will give the women an opportunity to tap into their creative spirits, realign themselves with an ancestral tradition, and become a part of a creative community. The group will become a nurturing environment for sharing and healing through the power of art.
