Hagudeza Rullán-Fantauzzi
Hagudeza Rullán-Fantauzzi is an interdisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia, drawing from her experiences as an Afro-Boricua Trans woman to explore themes of culture, gender, race, and sexuality. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Philadelphia, she overcame limited creative opportunities during her early years through determination, earning scholarships and working professionally as a dancer and choreographer.
Their interdisciplinary practice combines movement, film, sculpture, installation, and abstraction to create layered works inspired by personal and communal histories. Ritualistic repetition, rhythmic patterns, and immersive visuals reflect her exploration of identity and the tension between confinement and liberation.
Through her work, Hagudeza aims to spark dialogue, empathy, and connection, offering representation to marginalized voices and creating space for stories often left unspoken. By revisiting themes of autonomy and resilience, she strives to craft art that challenges boundaries and fosters understanding.
