My work begins and ends in photography. I think about the changing relationship between an image and its object, the imagination and the world. That boundaries between disciplines are easily crossed in my practice seems appropriate to me, as new definitions, new understandings, are being sought. And it is photography's particular language of presentation and (re)presentation that guides my exploration.

My work turns out to be nostalgic, conceptual, sometimes humorous or ironic, and rooted in the landscape. In some recent photographs of empty rooms - old studios and gallery spaces - I introduced photographic pieces of the landscape, along with abstract drawing. It didn't take long to recognize the close parallel these works drew to the documentation of my earlier installations. And it gave me a certain pleasure to watch how my own thoughts change and how they don't.
