Ending war: militarization, criminalization, and mass incarceration

Diane Monroe will design, develop and implement an intensive workshop for selected musical artists, open rehearsal, presentation and conversation with a public audience.  Each segment will focus on the role of protest music in struggles for positive social change. The project will be a step toward the development of Protest Band, a platform for reinterpreting and performing time-honored protest songs and for creating new songs of resistance and progressive imagination keyed to the social issues of today.
