Overview
Dante will travel to Hong Kong to report on the 6th World Trade Ministerial Conference in December 2005. She will stay on in for three months to continue investigating, documenting and reporting on the impact of the WTO's policies on the lives of Southeast Asians. These reports will voice the opposition to the WTO from the people who are suffering as a result of the WTO's trade policies and shed light on the actual meaning of globalization for US audiences, giving listeners in the US insight into their relations to others as consumers and members of this global community. As a Chinese woman, Dante seeks to provide the perspective of an Asian women on these stories, as opposed to the stories of Asian are usually filtered through the lens of white men, representing a western voice and point of view. By sharing these stories through Free Speech Radio News in the US, Dante can reach a wider audience than most mediums, using radio as a tool to mobilize for change.
