Overview
Christina Jackson’s project, entitled Stepping in Time, is a set of three audio storytelling tours of historic jazz venues across three neighborhoods in Philadelphia, culminating from a relationship with the Philadelphia Clef Club of Performing Arts, an anchor in the Philadelphia music scene and a historical pillar of the Black music community. This tour will deepen emotional connection with these cultural centers through an immersive experience of audio storytelling. Christina will use a combination of archival media, as well as newly recorded interviews as part of the audio tour, with the aim of sharing the value of these cultural places and nurturing the next generation of future music leaders, even beyond jazz.
