Cherina N. Booker

Cherina will produce a series of short films featuring one-on-one interviews with queer and gender-variant people of African descent who self-identify as "femme". Her project will attempt to establish "femme" as a gender expression that can be embraced by individuals who fall anywhere on the gender spectrum. The series will address the ways in which misogyny, racism, homophobia, classism, and sexism inform our understandings of gender and power.
