As a robust coalition of youth leaders with direct experience and youth justice advocates, Care, Not Control builds power and develops strategies to shrink the youth carceral state in Pennsylvania. We are led by organizers and Youth Leaders who have lived experience being incarcerated as minors. We use art, storytelling, and community-based organizing in our work to end youth incarceration and bring attention to youth justice issues.

Gabby Jackson will collaborate with the youth of Care, Not Control (CNC) to create an audio and visual podcast that aims to bring awareness to restorative and transformative justice – specifically how to implement concepts to create alternatives for incarceration from youth perspectives. Youth organizers of CNC will learn how to facilitate conversations and build social awareness through media and technology. The residency will culminate with a podcast release event for the community.

Care Not Control is a coalition of organizations and individuals working to end youth incarceration in Pennsylvania. As a robust coalition of youth leaders with direct experience and youth justice advocates, CNC builds power and develops strategies to shrink the youth carceral state in Pennsylvania. CNC works to not only end inhumane, ineffective, and racist practices, but to also build a new world where every young person has a chance to thrive.
