Overview
Weaving, my master since 1969, is ground, path, and fruition. From backstrap weaving to computerized Jacquard, I learn through cloth about my relationship to self and my relationship to others. When my search for authenticity and understanding goes astray, the whisper of cloth brings me back to a place of integrity.
Lineage is essential. In my art, I honor my teachers, the unnamed practitioners before them, and the fruits of their labor. I chant the glory of this history, grateful for its insights. Up or down remains the essence; moments from my life become the play. The work is basically about paying attention: being aware of the continually unfolding interlacement of breath, body, mind, and soul.
