Barbara will write an interactive "thriller" novel that she hopes will expose the failures of big city public school systems, institutional racism in urban areas, and the relationship between these factors. The project will engage the citizens of Philadelphia and South East Delaware County via online feedback and talk radio programming. The novel details the story of two law enforcement officers who love the same woman journalist. Through conflict and danger, they uncover an international conspiracy to destroy black children.

Barbara will write and perform a multimedia story of the struggles she and her 85-year-old mother are facing to combat the social, emotional, and health problems that arise with the coming of age in Philadelphia. The realization of this story through performance will give a voice to African American mothers and daughters, providing a foundation to build strategies and push for nursing home alternatives that support families. These interactive presentations will use intimate non-traditional mediums to provide an independent point of view on senior care. Unfiltered by mass media and presented to the hearts of real families overcoming the transitions with their elders, Barbara will inspire a stronger senior care advocacy movement.
