Alie will stage a free and interactive performance, Invisible River, which celebrates the possibility that Philadelphians may once again swim in the Schuylkill River. During the performance, audience members will walk with guides along Kelly Drive, witnessing visual art and performance installations that are staged in the river and along its shores. Invisible River will advocate for citizens to become stewards of the river by promoting the development of a green swimming pool and advocating for more access to the river’s shores.

Alie will choreograph and perform in Constants, an interactive and site-specific dance-theatre work highlighting important events that have surrounded the Schuylkill River and its impact on the population of Philadelphia. The performance will draw upon historical river stories from the time of the Lenape to the present. During Constants, Alie will engage the audience as “performing participants”, offering a chance to experience social history from a firsthand perspective. Alie will also facilitate social awareness and dialogue about the untold stories of one of the most vital resources in the region.
