Adonis BC Okonkwo is a performance artist, media maker, producer, writer, and researcher originally from south Georgia. Sometimes he writes. Sometimes he models. Sometimes he uses his body to tell a story. Sometimes he screams into the void to disco beats. He thinks we all deserve a chance. The main focuses of his research include, trans inclusive reproductive health and justice, inclusive representation in the media, and nuance Black trans narratives.

Adonis will assemble a zine on the history of trans/human rights in Philadelphia, centering the lives/narratives of Black trans people. Adonis will curate and accompanying art exhibit that will also function as the release party for the zine. The zine will later be disbursed to archives and libraries across the country.

Adonis will produce a multimedia interactive art exhibit focusing on what freedom—freedom of speech, expression, and choice—looks like for trans people in Philadelphia. The exhibit will consist of a movement-based performance piece with audio-visual, photography, sculpture components, and a self-produced educational zine on trans history and the current state of trans rights in Philadelphia. The zine will be released alongside the exhibit opening and donated to an LGBTQI archive.
