Adjua Sims- Copeland

Adjua will teach an Arts of Yoga and Cooking workshop series to youth in Southwest Philadelphia. Students will learn yoga postures, breathwork, and meditation, as well as participate in cooking classes that feature nutritious, affordable, and easy-to-prepare meals they can make at home, to combat the high rate of health problems in the community. The workshops will be documented and each participant will get a copy of the videotape, inspiring them to include these skills in their daily lives and in their community. Developed in response to issues facing low-income youth in her community, this project was designed to provide them with tools to bring about self-awareness, peace of mind, and a positive outlet.
