Leeway grantees take over the TGMR air waves for 25 hours to celebrate the many ways in which artists influence culture, from the marginal to the mainstream. Join us for a day (and night) of original content - interviews, commentary, poetry, performance and so much more. Live in-studio events include a poetry reading by Boston Gordon (ACG '17) and Kai Davis (LTA '17), a live dance workshop with Dinita "Queen Dinita" Clark (LTA '17), a children's music hour with Ants On A Log (ACG '17, '16), and others in the Leeway community.

Pulling Focus with Gretjen Clausing

Pulling Focus zooms in on what's happening in film and digital media culture in Philadelphia and beyond. Host Gretjen Clausing speaks with filmmakers, curators, critics, scholars and archivists about film, current events and pop culture all while putting great soundtracks and film score music in the foreground.

You Can’t Kill a Poet with Boston Gordon (ACG '17) and Kai Davis (LTA '17)

Founded in May of 2014, You Can't Kill A Poet is a bi-monthly reading series for queer and trans identified Philadelphia poets, writers, and performance artists to come together to share their diverse work. You Can't Kill A Poet seeks to provide a place for queer and trans individuals to share their art and have space for their stories.

Boston Gordon is a poet and writer living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They run the You Can't Kill A Poet reading series - which highlights queer and trans identified poets in Philadelphia. Boston earned their MFA in Poetry through Lesley University. They are a winner in the Free Library of Philadelphia’s inaugural Cultureshare. They have previously been published in The Fem, Bedfellows, Tinderbox, Guernica, and more.

Kai Davis is a writer, performer and teaching artist from Philadelphia. In 2016 she received her Bachelors in both African American Studies and English. Between 2012 and 2016 Kai Davis was the Artistic Director of The Babel Poetry Collective. She has performed for TEDX Philly, CNN, BET, PBS, and NPR, among others. She is a two time international grand slam champion, winning Brave New Voices in 2011 and The College Union Poetry Slam Invitational in 2016. She is a 2017 Leeway Transformation Award Recipient.

Dance workshop with "Queen" Dinita Clark (LTA '17)

Join dancer, educator and choreographer Dinita Clark for a HOUSE dance class. House dance is a street dance style under the umbrella of Hip Hop dance and is a fusion form of African, Latin, Tap and Hip Hop social. The class is an open level, fun, interactive, explorative and energetic class that provides foundation, technique and a positive atmosphere. This class embodies the club atmosphere in the classroom!

Dinita Clark is a native of Philadelphia, PA. She earned her Bachelor Of Fine Arts from The University Of The Arts in 2005. She dedicated over 15 years to Hip Hop/Street dance culture as a professional dancer/performer, educator, mentor, choreographer, community leader and cultural ambassador of street dance.

Ants on a Log (ACG '17, '16)

Philly's favorite folksy duo, Ants on a Log, performs music for children and other childlike people, songfully advocating for positivity, social justice, and silliness! The Ants are two-time awardees of the Leeway Art and Change Grant, and have been featured on WXPN's Kids Corner, at the Philadelphia Folk Fest, and on radio stations around the globe. The Ants are currently recording their second album, which is the soundtrack to their original musical, Curious: Think Outside the Pipeline!

In their off-stage lives, Julie Beth is a music therapist and Anya Rose is an elementary science teacher. Their powers combined make for smart and socially conscious folk, mostly originals with some must-know classics.
