Amplifying a Cultural Community: Leeway’s Impact

In December 2018, Leeway held a community meeting to kick-off an action research project designed to assess the impact of the foundation’s grantmaking. In setting the framework for this process, we asked ourselves:

How can we use this as an opportunity to share our experience and learning as we’ve worked to build a community engaged grantmaking practice? How have we used that practice to amplify the work of the communities we serve? How do we create a process to ensure different voices are raised up in the telling of this story?

Working with Dragonfly Partners as lead consultants and Bonfire Media to create videos about the foundation’s history, grantmaking model, and grantee perspectives on impact, we now have a set of products that provide some insights into the foundation’s practice. We offer these materials to you now as a contribution toward moving the work forward and hope members of the different communities of which we are a part find them useful.
