Symphony for a Broken Orchestra Info Session

Learn more about how you can get involved in the Symphony for a Broken Orchestra project at a happy hour mixer and information session hosted by SOUTH Kitchen and Jazz Parlor (600 N. Broad Street) on Tuesday, August 15 at 5:00 PM. Staff from Temple Contemporary will be on hand to provide an overview of the project and information on the variety of ways you can be a part of this experience. Complimentary food and drink will be provided.

Symphony for a Broken Orchestra, a program of Temple Contemporary, is an initiative committed to re-imagining sustainable instrumental music education. David Lang will write a visionary new composition featuring the Philadelphia School District’s broken instruments, to be performed by an orchestra of 400 musicians from across Philadelphia. Following the concert, Temple Contemporary, in collaboration with instrument repair professionals, will repair all of the fixable instruments and return them to the schools. Repair kits will be installed in every public school offering instrumental music classes, allowing broken instruments to be repaired with future support from donations to The Fund for the School District.
