Spiral Q's Peoplehood Parade October 24

Spiral Q will host their 16th annual Peoplehood Parade, an all-ages people-powered tradition/holiday that seeks to bring community together to celebrate the past year, tell stories, and look forward to building a more just and joyous year ahead. The parade will step off at 1:00pm sharp outside of the Paul Robeson House (50th & Walnut Streets) in West Philadelphia, and moves to Clark Park (45th & Chester Avenue). This year’s Peoplehood Parade will pay tribute to the movement for Black lives, as an offering by artists in response to this critical moment. Spiral Q invites you, in all of your creativity and boldness, to move together in solidarity with this year’s theme.

Move with Spiral Q in the parade by marching, walking and rolling through the streets! Wheelchairs, bicycles and strollers are welcome (but motorized vehicles are not). All are encouraged to bring original artwork, banners and/or signs, or create something new in honor of this year's theme. Spiral Q will curate sections of this parade that will highlight five strands of this year’s theme: The Shoulders We Stand On, In Memoriam: Lives We’ve Lost, Defiance + Dismantling, Healing + Reconciliation and Dare to Imagine Transcendence. You may join in one of these sections, or roll in the 'general' section. Please note: the parade route is roughly 1.25 miles. If you want to move in the parade and have limited mobility, you can join anytime along the parade route.

The parade will culminate in Clark Park (45th & Chester Avenue) with art-making activities in honor of our theme.

If you would like to join in, please sign up yourself, your friends, your family, your group or organization by contacting Jennifer at community@spiralq.org. Individuals, groups of friends and family can join the parade on the day of, or witness its beauty from a spot along the parade route. Click here for more information.
