Nicole Bindler performs August 1

Nicole Bindler (ACG '15) will share images, videos and stories from her trip to Bethlehem, Palestine where she choreographed a dance with Diyar Dance Theater. August 1st, 7pm at The Whole Shebang (1813 South 11th Street). This project is supported by a Leeway Foundation Art and Change Grant.
Nicole is also a member of the Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) Artist Council, who will show excerpts of work-in-progress (dance, theater and hybrid performances) in an intimate salon. The evening, lasting 75-90 minutes will include lively discussion about the intersection of art and politics in their work. The JVP Artist Council is a leadership body of 40 acclaimed artists inspired by Jewish activist and artistic traditions. The Council is made up of Jews and allies who represent a broader network of hundreds of artists and makers. Activist work for a just peace in Israel/Palestine needs artists and cultural workers to help us envision more just and possible futures, not simply what is politically “practical” in this moment. In a political discourse that feels polarized and poisonous, artists are a powerful antidote. Art compels us to question, invites us to remember, provokes us to act. July 31 at 7pm at The Whole Shebang.
