Intertwined: Contemporary Fiber Arts

Leeway presents exhibition in conjunction with Philadelphia Open Studio Tours 2010
Exhibition Dates: October 2-December 16, 2010
The Philadelphia-based Leeway Foundation supports women and transgender artists who create social change. Leeway’s fall exhibition, Intertwined, will be at the foundation’s office at 1315 Walnut Street in Center City. The exhibit features works by five artists—all of whom are previous recipients of Leeway grant and award programs—includes quilts, textiles, installation, and apparel.
The exhibition opens October 2, 2010 in conjunction with the annual Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST). Featuring Betty Leacraft (ACG ’09, WOO ’99), Christina E. Johnson (LTA ’07), Kathryn Pannepacker (WOO ’04), Toni Kersey (ACG ’07), and Wolfie E. Rawk (ACG ’09), it will remain on view through December 16, 2010.
“The exhibit is named ‘Intertwined’ not only because of the obvious—the artists’ works are fiber—but also because their practices are reflective of Leeway’s unique mission” says Leeway’s executive director Denise Brown. “They are artists creating work that is integrated with and in the service of social change.”
As part of POST, visitors can meet the artists in person October 9-10, 2010 from 12:00pm-6:00pm.
Artist talks are scheduled for:
