INTERIM PROGRAM MANAGER
DESCRIPTION:
Global Action Project (GAP) seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Interim Program Manager to lead and manage the development, planning and implementation of GAP’s social justice youth media programs, including Youth Breaking Borders, SupaFriends, our Outreach Distribution Fellowship, cross-program initiatives and other strategic programmatic collaborations. This is temporary a contract positioning from January-July 2018.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Program Direction:
Lead program-planning and program development
Lead curriculum development, grounded in GAP’s Core Curriculum
Supervise and manage collaborative video production processes
Supervise Youth Breaking Borders and SupaFriends Media Educators and the Outreach and Distribution Fellows
Oversee recruitment efforts for programs
Lead the development of a retention and community wellness plan for youth participants
Create and implement professional development plans for staff
Manage systems for program documentation, program evaluation, and program reporting
Implement and manage program budgets
Generate program-specific content for communications materials and grant proposals and reports
Oversee the coordination of cross-program events
Developing Strategic Partnerships:
Identify, develop and coordinate program-specific partnerships
Outreach and Distribution:
Oversee outreach and distribution opportunities
Co-lead outreach and distribution planning including online distribution, screenings & workshops, film festivals and development of strategic distribution partnerships
QUALIFICATIONS:
Passion and capacity for GAP’s transformative media organizing approach, which connects media analysis & production, youth leadership and social justice & movement-building
Strong pedagogical and facilitation skills and experience in alternative educational methods (such as popular education)
Demonstrated commitment to the individual, social & intellectual development of youth
Demonstrated value of asset-based support for youth & staff development
Knowledgeable about local, national & global social justice issues
Experience with digital video production (pre-production, production, post-production) & commitment to the aesthetic quality of their work
At least three years experience as a program manager
Comfortable in a collaborative, creative work environment with a diverse staff & youth community
A sense of humor is much appreciated!

SUPAFRIENDS LEAD MEDIA EDUCATOR
DESCRIPTION:
Global Action Project (GAP) seeks a part-time (15-20 hrs/wk) experienced and enthusiastic Lead Media Educator to coordinate SupaFriends, our TLGBQ youth social justice media program. SupaFriends is a media arts and leadership program for TLGBQ youth in which TLGBQ youth define their issues and solution and express their unique stories and perspectives through popular education, storytelling, and video production. The Lead Media Educator, with the support of Program Manager, provides overall program coordination for SupaFriends, including curriculum design, program facilitation and leading media production and distribution.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Lead planning and facilitation of SupaFriends program
Organize recruitment and retention efforts
Guide a collective youth video production process, including leading pre-production, production and post-production work.
Engage with young people to build healthy supportive relationships; offer ongoing support to young people in program
Prepare, debrief and assess program designs (in the areas of youth development, media production, political education, and popular education)
Coordinate program-specific partnerships, with TLGBQ justice organizations and TLGBQ youth-serving organizations
Provide mentorship support for SupaFriends Peer Media Educator
Program administration, including managing youth applications and intakes, data management, providing program documentation, correspondence, etc.
Support in developing and implementing distribution and communications strategies for SupaFriends media
QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years of production experience, with at least 1-3 years experience in production coordination
Knowledgeable of TLGBQ organizing landscape in NYC preferred
Knowledgeable of best practices for using media as a tool for social change and movement-building
Ability to produce and edit a short narrative video
Proficient in Adobe Premiere
Knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects and of other design software or willingness to learn
Experience with social media campaigns and social media distribution or desire to learn and experiment in this field
Excellent facilitation skills and experience with alternative educational methods
Contributes to creating a collaborative, creative work environment with diverse staff and youth
Strong program administration and project management abilities
Experience with leading community organizing and media organizing efforts a plus
Ability to speak multiple languages a plus
Sense of humor greatly appreciated!

YOUTH BREAKING BORDERS MEDIA EDUCATOR
DESCRIPTION:
Global Action Project (GAP) seeks an experienced and enthusiastic part-time media educator (10-12hrs/wk) to co-facilitate our Youth Breaking Borders program. GAP's Youth Breaking Borders is a program for immigrant youth to create community, build leadership and produce media for immigration justice. The Youth Breaking Borders Media Educator, with the support of Program Manager and Lead Media Educator, provides overall program support, including curriculum design, program facilitation and leading media production and distribution.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Co-facilitate and plan program using G.A.P. curriculum with Lead Media Educator
Guide a collective youth video production process, including leading pre-production, production and post-production work.
Conduct recruitment and retention activities for young people for programs
Engage with young people to build healthy supportive relationships; offer ongoing support to young people in the program
Prepare, debrief and assess program designs (in the areas of youth development, media production, political education, and popular education)
Participate in staff development and program support activities
Plan and facilitate community events in collaboration with other staff and youth around related immigrant justice issues and community needs
Participate in organizational development and overall program planning, where applicable
Support the creation of outreach and distribution plans for media produced
QUALIFICATIONS:
A willingness to engage with GAP’s curriculum and popular education approach, which integrates youth leadership development, political education, media analysis and production
Excellent facilitation skills and experience with alternative educational methods
Solid experience with digital video production (pre-production through post; experience with Final Cut Pro 7; Adobe Premiere a plus) and a commitment to the aesthetic quality of the work being produced
Committed and passionate about social justice and political education, with deep knowledge of issues of importance to immigrant youth in New York City and immigrant justice movements
Contributes to creating a collaborative, creative work environment with diverse staff and youth
Strong administrative and time management skills
Experience working with non-English speaking participants in a workshop setting
Ability to speak multiple languages a plus
