Fountainhead June 2021 Residency: Dedicating Time and Space to BIPOC Mothers

APPLICATIONS DUE JANUARY 21, 2021 AT 11:59PM
[APPLICATION]

The June 2021 residency is dedicated to BIPOC artists who are mothers, with generous support provided by the Sustainable Arts Foundation and Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz, juried by Renee Cox, Sandra Ramos and Marie Vickles.

For one month we are inviting three mothers to take time solely for themselves and their practice; no kids, no partners, just them sharing space and time, connecting and creating.

Artists are provided additional monies to help off set the cost of childcare and will have dedicated time for self care, something too few moms are able to do for themselves. Our hope is artists will mutually benefit from their shared camaraderie and discussions around the particular challenges/rewards of artist parents today.

The jurors are all mothers as well and will serve as mentors during the time here. This residency will take place in June 2021.

The Fountainhead Residency seeks artists who are at a pivotal point in their career where time and space, connections and conversations with art professionals and an immersive and nurturing environment is just the catalyst needed. To date The Fountainhead Residency has hosted over 430 visual artists from 47 countries.

Fountainhead provides artists an environment to create, converse, inspire and be inspired outside of daily routines and traditional confines of their home life. In addition to creating work while in-residence; artists will engage with art and business professionals who will provide one-on-one advice and feedback, be provided free access to all museums and personalized tours of private collections, be introduced to artists and collectors in the community, attend openings and talks, and participate in a public open house.
