New CD - COME FROM A COAL TOWN - Allows Grammy Nominated Artist To Tell The Tales Of The Pennsylvania Coalfields.
Life was hard in Pennsylvania’s Anthracite coal towns, especially if you arrived as a young child and didn’t speak a word of English. And once the mines began shutting down, then dress factories popped up to take advantage of women who desperately needed to support their impoverished families. Sometimes these stories were so hard that our relatives said nothing, leaving their stories unspoken, unwritten and unsung. That’s precisely why local Grammy-nominated musician and singer/songwriter Daria Marmaluk-Hajioanou created a CD called “Come From A Coal Town” that includes historic songs, coal mining ditties, labor union hymns and 6 original songs to help fill in the details that the artist learned while researching material for the CD.
